St. Petersburg, FL – Ross Alvin Bishop, Jr., 84, of Kenneth City, FL, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019, at C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center, Bay Pines, FL. Born June 17, 1934, in Cumberland, MD, Mr. Bishop was the son of the late Ross A. Bishop, Sr. and Eva Mary Swain Bishop. He was also preceded in death by his wife; Marcia Jo Metz Bishop, 2004. Mr. Bishop is the last surviving member of his immediate family. A graduate of Fort Hill High School, Class of 1952, Mr. Bishop served in the United States Army from February, 1954 through February 1957 and in the Army Reserves through 1962. Two of those years in the Army Security Agency in Germany. Retired from Potomac Edison Power Company and United Insurance Company of America. He was a faithful online viewer of Starkey Road Baptist Church. Ross is survived by his only son: Edward Ross Bishop and wife, Cindy, Kenneth City, FL. He also leaves behind grandchildren: Alison (Big Al) in Kenneth City; and Abigail (Abby) and grandson in law, Kyle, Newport News, VA. Also, a special friend, Kathy Cress, plus numerous first, second, and third cousins, plus numerous nieces and nephews and many local and long distance friends that he considered family. A memorial service will be conducted at Starkey Road Baptist Church in Seminole, FL at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 2, 2019. The service will be broadcast live on Face Book and on the Starkey Road Baptist Church website. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center, Hospice Unit, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd, Bay Pines, FL 33744. In memory of Ross A. Bishop, Jr.
