Clara L. Appleyard
December 29th, 1924 - July 12th, 2014
Clara L. (Algeri) Appleyard, 89, of Seminole, Florida, died Saturday (July 12, 2014) at The Springs of Boca Ciega Bay under the loving care of nurses, staff and Suncoast Hospice. She was born in Waltham, MA, to the late Graziano "George" & Amelia (Biondo) Algeri, graduated from Simmons College in Boston and remained active in the Tampa Bay Simmons Club into her later years. Clara loved Cape Cod and enjoyed spending time each year in West Yarmouth with her family and friends in earlier years. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Frederick L. Appleyard, sister to Grace Ingersoll of Fairfax, VA, and the late sisters, Carmen Algeri of Waltham, MA, Elvera (Vera) Glass of Waltham, MA, Norma Zettler of Winchester, MA, and Mary Ferri of Bedford, MA. Clara was very active in many groups and charities, always serving her community with a smile. She was a founding member of Holy Cross Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and an Executive Committee member, she was a founding member of the Museum of Fine Arts St. Petersburg where she served as a volunteer bookbinder as well as being actively involved with the Stuart Society, she served as membership chairman for the Friends of Decorative Arts, she served as Committeewoman for the Pinellas Republican Party, and was also member of the Biofeedback Society of Florida, Morton Plant Mease Foundation Donald Roebling Society and the Autism Society of Florida & America. Clara is survived her son, Frederick L. Appleyard, Jr. of Seminole, FL, two daughters, Vera J. Appleyard of Culver City, CA, and Elaine A. Stulic and her husband, Frank A. Stulic of St. Petersburg, FL, and by many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Mass in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 7851 54th Ave N, St Petersburg, FL, on Wednesday, July 23rd, at 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations in Clara's name may be made to Suncoast Hospice http://www.thehospice.org/Donate.
