Edmond James Borkowski
December 15th, 1922 - March 15th, 2016
Edmond James Borkowski, retired Major USAF (Pip) has moved on to be with his beloved wife of 62 years Claire. Edmond was the son of Albert and Constance (Wisolowski) Borkowski born 12/15/22 in Wyoming, PA. He served in the United States Air Force, a member of the greatest generation. He was stationed all over the world including in charge of secret codes in Newfoundland during WW II. Ed helped with the atom bomb testing in the South Pacific and later while stationed in Naples, Italy helped establish the communications network with NATO throughout Europe in the 60's. He went on to be the head of the Communications school in Biloxi, MS. He loved the military and in later years people would notice the man with all his military shirts and hats and thank him for his service. It meant a lot to him. Upon retiring he went to the University of South Florida and taught Middle School in Pinellas County for 16 years. He met the love of his life while stationed in Bermuda. They had three daughters, Andrea, Virginia, and Elizabeth. Stefan Harkins, Colton Harkins, Sebastian Harkins, Summer Harkins Jarvis, and Lilly Prillo are his grandchildren. Skylore and Willow Jarvis, Leila, Kailey, and Riley Harkins are his great grandchildren. He has adored them all. Ed was a gentleman that loved a good joke. If you met Ed you got a joke. "Have you heard the one about Jack and Jill…?" In honor of Ed please take a moment out of your day to thank a veteran. A committal service at Bay Pines National Cemetery with military honors will be held at a date and time yet to be determined. Please check back for updates in the near future.
