Betty Jo King

King, Betty Jo, 86, of Tampa, passed away June 4, 2015. Born in Wildwood, Florida, Betty lived in the Tampa Bay area all of her life. She was a switchboard operator for 56 years, working for Red Top Cab, Tampa Drug, Eastern Airlines (executive accounts), and Lab Corp., until her retirement in 2005. Betty enjoyed flower arranging, crocheting, and shopping. She spent her last nine years caring for her two grand-dogs, Precious and Izzy B. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Harry F. and Maggie Asbel Bellamy; husband, Henry E. King; sisters, Margaret M. White; brothers, Billy F. and Curtis F. Bellamy. She is survived by her daughter, Julie Childers, and husband, Larry; sisters, Jo Ann DeWitt, Mary F. Chapman, Sandra L. Barkey; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Betty’s family would like to thank everyone at Melech Hospice House Autumn wing for their fantastic care during her time of need. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Melech Hospice House. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Melech Hospice House, in Betty’s memory.
