Hilde Cavanagh

Hilde Cavanagh September 29, 1932 - May 31, 2012 Passed away peacefully in her sleep, at home unexpectedly. Predeceased by her husband John Cavanagh, her parents Albert and Paula, sisters Gabrielle and Margot and her best friend Lillian. Survived by her daughters Carole Cavanagh-Lockwood (Bob), Christine Mullinnix (Dan) and her Grandson Daniel Mullinnix, her niece Margot and nephew Rolf, Germany, brother and sister in law Fred and Sonia. Longtime friends and God Parents to her daughters, Dr. Paul Patane, New York City, Erna and Gerhardt of Germany who they sponsored to the United States, Katie of Pinellas Park and many other dear family and friends. Hilde was born and raised in Buchen/Odenwald , Germany, the youngest of three girls. After finishing school she went to a private boarding school, Institut St. Maria, Beuchsal / Baden where she learned english. She worked in the hotel industry in Germany and also worked in Paris where she learned french. She met her husband John from New York City in Germany while he was stationed there. In 1958 they were married in Heidelberg, Germany and then moved to New York City. Hilde was known for her delicous meals that were always cooking in her kitchen and her parties. She enjoyed summers in Germany with her daughters visiting family. In the 70's they moved to the St. Petersburg area for a few years, went back to New York City and later retired to the Tampa Bay area. Her favorite song - Kleine Tamara by Rudy Schuricke.
