Obituary of Robert B. Taylor Robert B. Bob Taylor, 76, of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away at home after a long illness, Thursday, April 23, 2009. He was born on May 4, 1932 in Pontiac, Illinois. He was preceded in death by parents, Harold D. Taylor and Georgia Fitch Taylor; sister, Jane Clayton Wieder; brother, H. David Lois Taylor and daughter-in-law, Jana Turner. He was a member of St. Anne of Grace Episcopal Church, Seminole, FL. He was a former member of Church of the Nativity, Sarasota, FL where he served as Church Treasurer; St. Mathias Episcopal Church, Nashville, Tennessee, where he served on the Vestry several years as Treasurer, Jr. Warden, Sr. Warden, Challis Bearer and Lay Reader. Bob retired from American Water Works Co. in 1979. He had worked with them in Peoria, Illinois; Muncie, Indiana; Chattanooga, Tennessee; as well as Terre Haute, Indiana. He also retired from Metro Government in Nashville, Tennessee in 1997, where he worked in management for the water company. From 1998 until 2004, Bob worked for the John and Mabel Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota, Florida. While living in Indiana he was a member of the Delaware County Lions Club and the Moose Lodge. While living in Tennessee he was a member of the Rotary Club. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club while living in Indiana and Tennessee. Bob enjoyed his service to others through his involvement in church and the service clubs where he lived. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Virginia L. Ginny Taylor; son, Michael J. Turner, New Albany, Indiana; daughter, Karen Bill Griffith, and daughter, Lynne A. Turner, Cleveland, Tennessee. Six grandchildren: Jeffrey Kathleen Bruce Turner, Nashville, Tennessee; Jennifer Paul Harders, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Dawn Michael Zerk, Elizabeth Griffith, Johnathan Turner, Cleveland, Tennessee; and W. Daniel Griffith, Las Vegas, Nevada; and six great-grand children. Other survivors include sisters: Joan Elbert Duckworth, Chilicothe, Illinois and Catherine Robert Smith, Washington, Illinois. Bob is also survived by several nieces and nephews in Illinois and Ohio. Memorial service will be held May 22, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Anne of Grace Episcopal Church, 6650 113th Street N, Seminole, Florida. The Rev. Steve Ankudowich, The Rt. Reverend Paul Roberts, and The Rev. Bill Griffith will be officiating. Memorial service and final interment will be held June 27th at 1:00 p.m. at the Hamilton Memorial Gardens Chapel of Devotion, 5401 Highway 153, Chattanooga, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, Florida 33772.
