John Wayne Bush

Mr. John Wayne Bush , 83 , of Winter Haven , Florida passed away September 23, 2021 in Winter Haven , Florida . He was born on December 25, 1937 in Colquitt , Georgia to Collie and Beulah Bush. He moved to Auburndale, Florida in 1957 and began work in the citrus industry. Most of his adult life he was a ceramic tile contractor starting his own business, Bush Tile Contracting. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying his weekly fishing trips with his close friend, Gene Permenter. In addition, he loved gardening and kept a beautiful yard. He also enjoyed reading, travel (especially the mountains), and watching westerns. He enjoyed tinkering with old cars and restored several over the years. He proudly served in the US Army. He was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Auburndale where he served as a trustee and an usher. He also served as a volunteer at the Historic Baynard House Museum in Auburndale. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Mrs. Lynda Bush, Son: Stephan (Jerrilynn) Bush. 3 Grandchildren: Sarah Bush , Joey Mohr , Megan (Josh) Mobley. 2 Great Grandchildren: Ty and Harris Mobley. Sisters: Zelda West, Johnnie Easley, Osa Newberry, Lisa Bush Klein. Brothers: Dennis West and Smiley West. Many nieces and nephews. Extended family: The Roberts: Terry, Teri Lynn ( Jonathan) Powers, Dustin (Beth) , Cody , Katie. He was preceded in death by his parents and six sisters: Duane Bird, Margie Nell Whitaker, Dorothy Bedsole, Eva Ray, Mary Simmons, and Colleen Houston. The family will receive friends at First United Methodist Church 316 Lake Ariana Blvd. Auburndale FL 33823 on October 1, 2021 from 12:00PM - 1:00PM Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on October 1, 2021 at First United Methodist Church Auburndale with Pastor Jim Mitchell officiating. Interment will be at Auburndale Memorial Park, Auburndale Florida . Arrangement by: Kersey Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be sent to the Church or to the charity of your choice.
