Joseph Gordon Bowman

Mr. Joseph Gordon Bowman, age 69, a resident of Auburndale, Florida passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Winter Haven Hospital. Mr. Bowman was born March 29, 1955 in Lakeland, Florida to Wilmer Thomas & Mary Virginia (Gordon) Bowman. He was a lifetime Polk County resident, graduated from Auburndale High School Class of 1973, graduated from Florida Southern College in 1977 and Loyola Law School in 1981. Joe was a retired Corporate Attorney in Fort Lauderdale, Winter Haven & Lakeland. He was a member of the Florida Bar Association and also the Executive Co-Owner for a Dry Cleaning Chain. He was of the Presbyterian faith and an Artist. Joe enjoyed fishing, hummingbirds, birdhouses, working out, body building, reading, building things and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father – Wilmer Thomas “WT” “Tom” Bowman; mother – Mary Virginia Gordon Bowman and brother – John Napier “Buck” Bowman. Joe is survived by his loving family, brother – Jim Bowman of Auburndale; sister – Annette Bowman (Dominque) Hall of Auburndale; 3 nephews – Justin Thomas (Cierra) Hall of Joplin, MO., Andrew Shelly (Brittany) Hall of Auburndale and Allan Ralph Hall of Lakeland; 2 nieces – Michelle Hall (David) Lee of Honolulu, HI, Stephanie Hall (Richard) Lozier of Hickory, NC; great nieces & nephews – Jack, Penelope, Jada, Adeline & Cyrus. A memorial service will be 2pm Saturday, April 27th at Kersey Funeral Home with a gathering from 1-2 at the funeral home.
