Mrs. Deborah "Debbie" Irene Metzler, age 64, a resident of Auburndale passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016 at her home with her family by her side. Mrs. Metzler was born November 9, 1951 in Miami, Florida to Joseph Hawkins and Velma Irene (Sutton) Crane. She was an Auburndale resident for 41 years coming from Miami, Florida. Debbie graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina with a bachelor's degree. After teaching for over 28 years, she retired a few years ago from Auburndale High School. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Winter Haven. Debbie enjoyed volunteering as a docent at the Baynard House, being a teacher, spending time in the mountains and loved her family dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents. Debbie is survived by her loving & devoted family; Best Friend & Husband of 42 years - Joe Metzler of Auburndale, Florida; Daughter - Andrea Marie (Gary) Simmons of Ft. Riley, Kansas; 2 Brothers - Donald (Irene) Crane of Miramar Beach, Florida & Robert (Karen) Crane of Humble, Texas; 2 Grandsons - Brandon & Andrew Simmons. In lieu of flowers, Debbie requested that contributions be made to either; St Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, Tennessee 38101-9908 OR to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123.
