John Jay Manning
May 9th, 1949 - July 7th, 2016
John Jay Manning, 67, of Auburndale, Fl. passed away on July 7, 2016, following a long illness. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa. and was a life member of the Springfield Fire Company in Springfield, Pa. Jay served in the United States Coast Guard notably at a LORAN station in Targaburan, Turkey during the Vietnam War. He started working with computers at UNIVAC before moving to Prime Computers, rising through the ranks from technical support associate to major account manager supporting the federal government. He went on to work as a Vice-President for Baron Stage Curtain and Equipment Company of Baltimore, Md. Jay had a lifelong love of photography, winning many awards for his work, most notably his photo of the Tomb of the Unknown Solider. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth and their son Daniel, his former wife Nancy and their son David of Haymarket, Va., his sister Barbara Thaxton and family of Owensboro, Ky. and his dog Daisy and cat Squirrel.
