Douglas John Cammarata

Douglas John Cammarata, 61, passed away on May 1, 2022. Doug was born on August 9, 1960 in Somerville, MA to Carmelo and Norma Cammarata. While growing up in Somerville, Douglas was very active at the Youth Center where he loved to be outdoors. He could be found playing basketball, baseball, swimming or any other outdoor activity. After choosing to spend his life with Janine, they both enjoyed the same love for camping and traveling and continued with their adventures. Douglas had a passion for anything with a motor in it, classic cars, boats, and motorcycles. As much as he loved the outdoors and cars, he also loved his animals especially his dogs Lennon and Lola, they were like his children. Douglas had a kind, honest but caring personality. He would even help strangers. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always making people laugh. Douglas was a talented carpenter, mechanic, and handyman. As an inside joke, Janine and her sisters would call him MacGyver because he could fix anything. Douglas and Janine owned and operated a successful remodeling business with loyal customers for 5 years. Douglas worked up until the day he was diagnosed. He was an excellent provider, a wonderful husband, father, son, brother and uncle. Douglas is preceded by his father, Carmelo Cammarata. He is survived by his Wife, Janine Jones; Mother, Norma Cammarata; Sister, Susan Petrino and family; Brother Paul Cammarata and family; Daughter, Ashley and family; Mother-in-law, Diana Jones and Husband Fish; Sisters-in-Law, Rachel Taylor and family, Danielle Townsend and family, as well as John and Carol English; who by all accounts were a second family to Douglas. John taught him how to drive and helped him get a job at the young age of 16. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 2:00pm at Tables Beach.
