Christopher Young Gates

Christopher Young Gates, beloved son, brother, uncle, fiancé and friend passed away on April 24, 2022, at age 38. A resident of Merritt Island, Florida, he died suddenly at Orlando Regional Hospital of leukemia. Christopher was born in Daegu, South Korea on July 26, 1983 and was cared for by his foster mother for 4 months, at which time he flew to Washington, DC to join his adoptive parents. Christopher grew up in Arlington, Virginia where he attended Jamestown Elementary, Williamsburg Middle, and Yorktown High Schools. He attended Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia and relocated to Savannah Georgia with his family in 2002. He received a BFA from Armstrong-Atlantic University in Savannah, Ga. He and his fiancé moved to Merritt Island, Florida where they lived for the past eight years. He loved living in Florida and spending time outdoors. Christopher was known for his zest for life and friendly personality. He was a talented pianist and springboard diver. He enjoyed playing and singing for the residents at the complex where he worked. Christopher leaves behind his mother and father, Thomas and Nancy Gates, sister, Elizabeth Gates, fiancé, Ashley Beauchane, nieces, Emily and Madison, three aunts, two uncles, and several cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Marion and Earl Gates and Roy and Frances Wiseman. A celebration of life is planned for a future date.
