Mrs. Marinel Alma Getty, age 96 a resident of Auburndale passed away Christmas Day 2020 at home surrounded by family. Mrs. Getty was born October 6, 1924 in Myakka City, Florida to John Cornelius and Ola Pearl (Tatum) Albritton. She was an Auburndale resident since 1953 coming from Sarasota. Marinel was the only graduate from Myakka City High School Class of 1942. She was the owner/operator of Getty’s Office Supply in Auburndale and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Auburndale. Marinel was a member of the Ladies Sunday School Class at FUMC, member Auburndale Lions Club, member Auburndale Women’s Club and volunteered for the Auburndale VFW all for many years. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband – Virgil “Bud” Getty in 2000 and 9 brothers & sisters; Marinel is survived by her loving family, son – Timothy (Vickie) Getty of Little Rock, AR.; 2 daughters – Virginia (Clyde) Whitman of Auburndale and Gayle (Steve) Cook of Winter Haven; 6 grandchildren – Michael, Angela, Brien, Mark, Julie & Marshall and 12 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Mrs. Getty’s name to the American Cancer Society, 34 Lake Elbert Dr., SE, Winter Haven, FL. 33880. A memorial service will be held at Kersey Funeral Home Friday, January 15, 2021 at 4:00pm with a gathering beginning at 3pm. Due to COVID-19 capacity for the service is limited to 75 attendees.
