Gertrude Anna Garrett

Gertrude Anna (Zingg) Garrett, 88, passed away October 23, 2012. She was a resident of Hillsborough County for 43 years. Gertrude was born in her family home in Hempstead, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Lena (Iseli) Zingg, who immigrated from Langenthal, Switzerland in 1907; brother, Paul E. Zingg; sister, Frieda C. Duerr. She will be dearly missed by her surviving family, sister, Marie Rosa Zingg, 90, of St. Petersburg, FL.; son and his wife, Paul and Amy; daughter, Anna Marie; grandchildren, Everett and Arreanna and Lena and Laura. She found joy in her last year from great grandsons, Ryder, one year and Travis, seven months. She earned a Business degree and an Associates degree in accounting while attending college in NC. She closed and retired, after 36 years, her accounting and bookkeeping business, Garrett and Associates, in December of 2011. She was a long time member, director and accountant of former John Calvin Presbyterian Church. Gertrude enjoyed participating in church and community events including yard sales, social events, craft fairs and volunteered with Share and other programs in Tampa helping the less fortunate. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church, 350 S. Hyde Park Ave., Tampa, FL. 33606.
