Francis T L Dossey, 71, of Sun City Center FL, passed away Saturday June 16, 2018 from pancreatic cancer. He was preceded in death by Betty Lee Wetherington Dossey, his one and only wife of 50 years; his parents Bethel Brooks Dossey and Vollie Esther (Satey) Morris; and siblings Sam Satey and Linda Dossey. He is survived by four sons: Terry, Cory, Jerry, and Donny; nine grandchildren: Mckenzie, Kody, Brendan, Victor, Duce, Auston, Dylan, Tyler, and Tristan. Terrell married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Betty. Both were graduates of Hillsborough High School (c/o 1965), and the two were recognized as the longest married couple at their 50 year class reunion in 2015. Terrell traveled the world during his 20 year active service in the U.S. Navy. Upon retiring from the Navy, his career continued as a computer programmer working for various DoD contractors in the DC/Virginia/Maryland area. He retired a second time and returned home to Tampa in 1999, and later moved to SCC in 2009. He selflessly devoted his time and energy helping neighbors, friends, and veterans throughout SCC. His moto was “to make things work, better!” Terrell was the host for Bob’s Vets, a group of more than 60 veterans of all eras and branches of service that meet every Thursday 0900 at Bob Evans, Ruskin. If you want a seat, you best arrive early! He would often start the session with his famous introduction, “Hello, my name is not Bob, my name is Terrell. Friends and family call me Terry, and sailors call me…” to which veterans would respond, “Chief!” Although he is no longer hosting Bob’s Vets, the breakfast fellowship will continue. Flowers are appreciated, or donations can be made payable to Bob’s Vets on behalf of Terrell Dossey and mailed to 1519 New Bedford Dr., Sun City Center, FL 33573. Visitation is scheduled for Friday June 22 at Sun City Center Funeral Home from 2-4 PM. A service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, SSC, on Saturday June 23 beginning at 11AM. An escorted funeral procession to Garden of Memories will commence following services. A full military honors ceremony will be held at the Mausoleum.
