Charles Thomas Silk, 94, of Tampa, Florida passed away June 21, 2021. He was born on September 11, 1926, in Queens, New York to the late Lawrence and Florence (Walsh) Silk. Charles served proudly in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. He retired from the Coast Guard in 1966. He had a second career with General Chemical and retired as a Plant Manager in 1990. Charles was active in his church and community and was a loving and devoted family man. Locally he was a Benedictine Oblate at St. Leo Abbey, 4th degree Knight of Columbus, and member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church. Charles is survived by this children, Florence R. (David) MacMillan, Donna L. (James) Ybarra, Lawrence J. Silk, Bruce J. (Denise) Silk, Sabrina H. (Jeff Maust) Silk; honorary daughter from Spain, Patricia Cano; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; many extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Phyllis V. Silk; son, Charles T. Silk; siblings, Lawrence J. Silk, Helen (Silk) Armstrong, Florence (Silk) Waters, and Thomas F. Silk. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 9724 Cross Creek Blvd. Tampa, Florida 33647. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Benedictine Monks at St. Leo Abbey, 3601 State Road 52, St. Leo, Florida 33574 or LifePath Hospice at www. lifepathhospice.chaptershealth.org.
