Wilson Matos, Sr
April 7th, 1932 - October 30th, 2022
Wilson Matos Sr., at age 90, of Sun City Center, Florida passed away peacefully on October 30, 2022 at 4:24PM after a long 7 year battle with Dementia. Wilson was predeceased by his Mother Rosario (Mita) Matos, and (7) Siblings: Domingo Santiago (Chago)Cofresi, Ellena Matos, Rosa Maria Cofresi, Braulio Cofresi, Oscar Cofresi, Maria (Titi) Graniela-Matos, Sylvia Fernandez, and his first Grandson Wilson Angel Matos III. Wilson came at the age of 15 from Cabo Rojo Puerto Rico to live in his beloved South Bronx in New York. At the age of 19 Wilson met the love of his life Lucy at a house party in the Bronx, from then on they were inseparable. They dated for 3 years then married and shared an amazing 67 years of love and memories. Wilson was the type of man that was well respected by his peers. Wilson dedicated 27 years of his life to his job as a Foreman at Continental Connectors Electronic Corporation. When engineers couldn’t understand a problem they would go to Wilson with the blueprints so that he can help them out. Wilson passion for music was such that he self taught himself how to play the guitar. All of His children and grandchildren have so many memories of Wilson sitting down playing his guitar and singing old songs such as “Guantanamera” or “En mi Viejo San Juan”, while always having that smile he had that would light up the room. Another passion Wilson had was playing dominos and watching “HIS” New York Yankees play baseball, but above all he loved spending time with his family. Wilson was survived by a legacy that he was proud of with His bride of 67 years, Luz Maria Matos and their (4) children and their spouses, Nancy & Jorge Gomez, Wilson Jr & Renee Matos, Richard & Nancy Matos & James John Matos. (8) Grandchildren: Zuania Yari, George, Michael Anthony, Jonathan Lee, Adrienne C., Charlene Shantel, Jessica Michelle, & Angel Marie. (16) Great Grandchildren; Alexandra, Devin Michael, Taitanna, Mariah, Antonio Tariq, Essencelee, Kruz Anthony, Ariana Marie, Valeria, Caden Alexander, Preston Maddox, Michael Jett, Ian Figueira, Grayson Xavier, Mia Ava, & Ashton Phillip. (4) Great Great Grandchildren: August, Rai Summer, Amir & Elias. Wilson was also survived by his brother Manolo Cofresi.
