Currie, Philip W., 77 of Sun City Center, Florida, formerly of Latrobe, Pa, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2010. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 1, 1933, Philip was a retired OBGYN from Latrobe Area Hospital, Latrobe, Pa. A graduate of Mt. Union College and University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, member of Latrobe Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, Westmoreland County Medical Society, Fellow of American College of OBGYN, a member of U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1961, instructor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Latrobe Area Hospital for Jefferson Medical College Medical Students and Family Practice Residents 1976 to 1994, Board Member Latrobe Community Chest (United Way), Board Member Latrobe Area Christian Counseling Center, Dr. Currie was a volunteer driver for Samaritan Services in Sun city Center, Fl and for Faith in Action in Latrobe, Pa. Survivors include his wife Elinor S. Currie of Sun City Center formerly of Latrobe, Pa., daughter Jill C. (David) Reeves of Frederick, MD, a son David A. (Susan) Currie of Hamilton, MA, a sister Carol (James) MacLennan of Denver, CO and a brother Bruce F. (Mary Nell) Currie of Minocqua, WI. Philip is also survived by 5 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Unity Chapel on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 10:00 AM. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Samaritan Services, 919 N. Pebbles Beach Blvd, Sun City Center, Fl 33573 and Laurel Area Interfaith Volunteer Care Givers/ Faith In Action, P.O. Box 854, Latrobe, Pa 15650.
