Roger Samuel Chell
March 7th, 1924 - March 29th, 2012
Roger S. Chell of Sun City Center, Florida (formerly of Lake Forest, Illinois) passed away peacefully in hospice care on March, 29, 2012 at the age of 88. He was born to John and Esther Chell on March 7, 1924 in Evanston, Illinois. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the US Air Force and flew B-17 bombers in the 100th bomb group during World War II. After his military service he attended and graduated from Lake Forest College in 1950, Lake Forest, Illinois where he met his wife, Joan Runge. They were happily married for over 60 years. Roger successfully ran the family business of Chell+Anderson, General Contractors in Chicago, Illinois until his retirement in 1985. He is survived by his wife; Joan, his four children; Nancy Adelman (Michael), Tom Chell (Joyce), Jim Chell and Kate Wimer (Robert) and three grandsons; Charlie and Ross Adelman and Bode Chell. Roger was a wonderful and loving husband and father. He had a tremendous spirit and sense of humor and always had words of wisdom for his family and friends. We will miss the twinkle in his bright blue eyes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's association.
