DYER, Katherine Coburn, lovingly known to all as Kay, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Florida Hospital Tampa of post-surgical complications. Born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont on June 3, 1938, Kay was a graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy. She studied at Tufts University in Boston and graduated from the University of Vermont in Burlington. She worked as a public and private school teacher, early childhood development specialist, sales representative, and as her last and best calling, a geriatric care manager and owner of Dyer Solutions in Apollo Beach, Florida. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Barry Dyer; daughter Margaret "Peg" Dyer of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; son Daniel "Dan" Dyer of Orlando, Florida; brother David (Patti) Coburn of Lower Waterford, Vermont; brother Andrew (Peggy) Coburn of Hertford, North Carolina; and several cousins. Two local memorials will be held for Kay: On Tuesday, October 7, 2014 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Sun City Center Chamber of Commerce, 1651 Sun City Center Plaza, Sun City Center, FL 33573; and Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Sarasota, 3975 Fruitville Rd, Sarasota, FL 34232. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to assist the family with expenses, with details to be provided at the memorials.
