Helena S. Miras
June 12th, 1916 - July 9th, 2015
Miras, Helena Stanislawa (nee Budnik) - passed away peacefully on July 9, 2015 at the age of 99. Helena was born the second of eight children to Polish immigrant parents Joseph and Julia (Jarosz) Budnik in Chicago on June 12, 1916. She and her siblings went to live in Poland after World War I with their parents. She was raised in Poland and returned to America in 1938 and lived in New York City. There she met her husband and they were married a few months later. They lived in Manhattan until 1962, then moved to Orlando. After her husband died in 1992, Helena moved to Sun City Center. Throughout her life, Helena worked as a seamstress in the women's garment industry and department stores. Helena was a warm, kind, and generous woman, who enjoyed singing, dancing, and salt water fishing with her husband. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Miras; her five sisters Anna, Marianna and Stanislawa Budnik, and Victoria Bruskivage, and Zofia Lubojemski; two brothers, Joseph and Kazimierz Budnik; and her niece, Loretta Conners. Helena is survived by many nieces and nephews in the United States and Poland. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Sun City Center, Fl. Interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Gotha, FL. Arrangements by Sun City Center Funeral Home (813) 634-9900.
