Michael C. Raff, 74, of Sun City Center, Florida, passed away suddenly on August 22, 2015 while hiking in the Hillsborough River State Park. Mike was born in Neptune, NJ, the son of Charles H. and Helen Marie Raff. He grew up in Little Silver, New Jersey and was a graduate of Red Bank High School and Monmouth College and later obtained a Master's Degree from the University of Maryland. He served in the New Jersey National Guard from 1965 to 1973. He worked as Certified Public Accountant, auditor and Certified Financial Planner in private industry before moving to Maryland where he taught business and accounting at Prince Georges County Community College for many years. He retired in 2000 and moved to Sun City Center Florida. Michael is survived by his long-time friend and companion Dr. Constance Grant; a sister, Mary Potter and her husband John; a nephew LT John W. Potter and his wife Sara; a niece Susanna Potter; a nephew Charles Potter and his wife Helen and their son James; and by his step-mother Amely Patricia Elliott. Michael loved the outdoors and was an active member of the Sierra Club and Freedom Boat Club. He was also an organizer and leader of Sun City Center bicycle, kayaking and hiking clubs. In lieu of flowers memorial mass may be said at Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Sun City Center. A memorial service will be held 2 PM, Friday, August 28, 2015 at the Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center, FL 33573.
