Herman Bode
March 27th, 1927 - October 4th, 2015
Herman Bode Jr. 88 of Sun City Center, Fla passed away October 4, 2015. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Independence during World War II. As an early resident of Anna Maria Island, he was part of the construction crew of the new home development in Country Club Shores on Long Boat Key. Herman was a loving husband, devoted father, grandpa and faithful brother. He loved camping, spear fishing and smelt dipping. Herman would have been married 65 years to his loving wife, Marilyn on November 4, 2015. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Westbrook, five brothers in law, Leo Westbrook, Ernie Walton, Newton Taylor, George Kok and Noble Taylor, and two sisters in law, Norma Taylor and Beverly Kok. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn, five children, Richard (Sherri) Bode, Barbara Bode, Tim (Cindy) Bode, Brenda (Carl) Brandt and Michelle (Jeff) Tustin, two brothers, Alfred (Sue) Bode, and Jim (Jo) Bode, a sister, Jane (Robert) Fowler, two sisters in law, Edith Walton and Millie Taylor, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in Michigan in the spring of 2016.
