Dr. James Atwood "Jim" Pickle, 86, of Sun City Center, Fla passed away April 29, 2017 at Solaris Rehabilitation Center. He was born January 9, 1931, in Birmingham, AL, the son of Francis K. and Beulah Mae Pickle. He was the youngest of three brothers, Kirby, Billy, and James. On March 14, 1959, he married Peggy Jeanette Wion, who preceded him in death. He attended the University of Alabama Dental School and served in the United States Air Force with the rank of Captain. He was stationed in Homestead, Fla as a Dentist until his discharge. Dr. Pickle worked as a dentist in Miami for 40+ years, before retiring at the age of 70. He was foremost an ardent Crimson Tide fan; secondly, an avid deep sea fisherman, tennis player, and table tennis afficionado. Dr. Pickle traveled the world with Peggy visiting London, China, and the Panama Canal. Dr. Pickle was an active member of the Kendall United Methodist Church, while living in Miami. He leaves behind two sons, James and John and their respective wives, Kim and DD. Dr. Pickle was a proud grandfather to one granddaughter, Sarah. Memorial service will be 4 pm Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center, Fla. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Critter Adoption And Rescue Inc., 1529 27th Street SE., Ruskin, Florida 33570
