Sharon Ann Moyer

Sharon Ann Moyer, age 77 years, of Portland, passed away October 3rd, 2021 in the presence of family at the Skilled Nursing Facility at Hope Village in Canby, OR. She was born February 3, 1944 in Silverton, OR to Frank and Wanona Lais. Sharon was the oldest daughter of eleven children and grew up in Hubbard, OR. As the eldest, she helped her dad on his farm and began learning to work at a young age. She was the first child in her family to graduate from college. At Goshen College, she earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. After graduating, she returned to Oregon and worked at OHSU for over 50 years in nursing. She met her husband, Dale Moyer in Portland, OR. They were married on July 15, 1972 and they enjoyed life together for 49 years. They were blessed with three children, Michelle, Shawn and Stephanie. While Sharon and Dale raised a family in SW Portland, she continued to work part-time as a nurse. She was a longtime and active member of Portland Mennonnite Church. She quietly served on the kitchen committee and the nursery committee, among other committees over the years. As time allowed later in her life, she loved quilting with her friends at the church. Sharon devoted her time to sewing, gardening, reading, hiking/walking and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Dale, her three children and spouses, Michelle and her husband, David, Shawn and his wife, Marianne and Stephanie and her husband, Jon; six grandchildren, Alisa, Zachary, Joshua, Levi, Isaac and Liam; eight siblings, Shirley Martin and her husband, Lloyd, Susan Boshart and her husband, Gene, Carol Kauffman and her husband, Dennis, Janice Lais, Eileen Springer and her husband, Roger, Ray Lais, Larry Lais and Ed Lais. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Rachel Lais, and brother, Ken Lais. Services will be held on Thursday, October 7th at 3 pm at Zion Mennonie Church. Friends may visit at Canby Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, Oct 3rd from 4-6 pm. The family suggests that memorials be made to Mennonite Central Committee @ www.mcc.org.
