Maurice H Atwood
January 6th, 1933 - June 10th, 2013
Melbourne Maurice H. "Red" Atwood, 80, of Indialantic, passed away June 10,2013. Red was born in Bruce, WI January 6, 1933 to Charles and Edna Atwood. He worked as a salesman for OK Tire Store in Indian Harbour Beach and was an avid fisherman. He served his country honorably in the U.S.A.F. Red moved his young family to relocate to Indialantic from Minneapolis, MN in 1965. He began his own business and started to really enjoy his favorite hobby, fishing. He loved fishing on the beach, out in the ocean, but especially enjoyed fishing at Sebastian Inlet where he once held the flounder record on "Red's Rock". Because of his caring and friendly demeanor, he met and became friends with so many folks that after his retirement, he could not go to any restaurant or store without someone spotting him and saying hello. Red was a caring and loving father to his children and was devoted to his wife of 57 years, Lois. He was predeceased by his beloved "Lo Lo" in March 2012. Now, she has welcomed back her "Redhead". He is survived by his children Jeffrey C. Atwood(Claire and step-daughter Colleen) and Mary B. Best(Mark), grandchildren Sam(Toccara) Best, Kimberly A (Michael) Golda, and great grand-daughter Emma Rose Golda. Memorial gathering will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, June 29,2013 at Beach Funeral Home-West Melbourne/Suntree with a service to begin at 11:00am
