Cyrus "Joe" Ely Warden
January 8th, 1936 - June 8th, 2013
Satellite Beach, Florida Cyrus Ely Warden, Jr Cyrus Ely (Joe) Warden, Jr 77 of Satellite Beach, Florida passed away Saturday June 8, 2013 peacefully at home ..... He was born January 8, 1936 in New York City, New York to Dr. Cyrus Ely and Harriet Steele Warden, the first of three sons. Cy graduated from Forest Hills High School, Queens, New York in 1952 and soon after the family moved to Brevard Co., Florida. Cy enlisted in the U.S. Navy May 1952 at Jacksonville Naval Base as a radio repairman and was on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier on a Mediterranean tour. Cy had a special fondness for tennis, chess, dancing, swimming and meteorology. 1962 he received an associate degree in Mathematics from Brevard Engineering College now known as Florida Institute of Technology, Virgil Grissom was guest speaker at graduation. He was a member of the Brevard County (SAR) Sons of the American Revolution and a member of Satellite Beach United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Harry Thomas Warden. Survivors include his loving wife Janelle Walker Warden, sons; Carter and wife Melanie, Graham and wife Sayaka, Six grandchildren Caleb, Maddie, Jack, Lisa, Liko and Jess Warden, a brother Dr William Steele Warden and wife Ann, two nephews Cameron & Rod Warden, and two nieces, Beth Warden & Deborah O'Connor Skinner, sister-in-law Jacqueline Walker O'Connor of Connecticut and many cousins scattered throughout the U.S.A and New Zealand. Cy and Janelle had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in December. They enjoyed traveling and meeting cousins from New Zealand to Texas. Cy is donating his body to the University of Central Florida Medical School. Memorial service will come at a later date. Donations may be made in Cy's memory to the Satellite Beach United Methodist Church, 450 Lee Ave Satellite Beach, FL 32937.
