Mary Thomson Jahelka, 82, passed away Monday, July 8 2013 at home. She was born on July 5, 1931 to Kent and Mary Mangan Thomson in Rye, N.Y.. In 1951 she married Kenneth Clifton Jahelka. He passed away in 2012. She is survived by her three children, Judith Kur (Barry), Laura Fleming and Pete Jahelka, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, Brothers Kent Thomson (Marilyn) and Frank Thomson (Carol), many nieces, nephews and close friends. Mary graduated from Rye High School and Oswego State University. She worked as a primary teacher in Harborfields Central School District, Long Island, N.Y. from 1960 until her retirement in 1986. In 1987 she moved to Melbourne Beach and was active in the golf community, past president of The New Neighbor's Club of South Brevard Beaches, a volunteer for the King Center and a Eucharistic Minister for immaculate Conception Church. A funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, 3780 S. Highway A1A, Melbourne Beach, FL on Saturday July 27, 2013 at 10:30 am. There will be a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Birthright of Melbourne or Wuesthoff Hospice of Brevard County.
