David T. Sigafoos Satellite Beach David (Siggy) Sigafoos, age 65, passed peacefully August 25, 2013, at Holmes Regional Medical Center, due to a short battle of esophageal cancer, with his wife at his side. Born in Easton, PA, he was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Helen Sigafoos; and son, Shawn Michael Sigafoos. Survived by his wife of 45 years, Amalia (Amy) Sigafoos; brother, Ronald Sigafoos, and sister-in-law, Kim; two nieces, Ashley Sigafoos and Heather Marshal and her husband Jeffrey; great nieces, Taryn and Kirsten Marshal. Our extended family, Devon Gillespie and his special little girl, Kirsten, who always reminded Siggy to stop and smell the roses. Dave attended Penn State University, served in the US Navy, moving to Florida in 1971 and began his career in the hospitality business. Managing hotels in Lauderdale by the Sea, Kentucky Lake, Kansas City, Missouri, before moving to Brevard in 1979. Joining Triple T Inns, he was opening manager of The Holiday Inn Oceanfront and changing Brevard night life with Mr. Tease lounge with star entertainers, Ray Charles, Jan and Dean and more. In 1986, he was opening manager of The Cocoa Beach Hilton. In 1990, he opened Siggy's American Bar in Palm Bay. During his 34 years in Brevard, Dave's generosity and involvement extended into many community events, serving in several board positions, including Space Coast Early Intervention, Cocoa Beach and Melbourne Chamber of Commerce, to name a few. He was a consistent sponsor of The Brevard Live Music Awards and most recently served on the board of The Joe Realino Memorial Fund. Dave was also involved with a British Charity, Destination Florida, bringing seriously ill children to Brevard for the time of their life. An avid sports fan, you could find him at every spring training game at Space Coast Stadium. He was an active member of the Satellite Beach VFW Post 4643 and Satellite Beach Moose Lodge #2367. Dave's great smile, sense of humor, and the love of a good cigar, will be missed by many of his great family of friends. A celebration of his life will be Monday, September 2, 2013, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Indialantic. A gathering of friends at 10:00 am, and funeral mass at 11:00 am. A celebration of his life for his friends and family in Pennsylvania will be Sunday, September 15th at 2:00 pm at Lester Pfeffer American Legion Post 611, 429 So. 16th Street, Wilson Boro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Genesis House Melbourne, (in memory of Shawn), The Joe Realino Fund, Brevard Music Aid, or Cancer Care Centers of Brevard Foundation.
