Susan Elizabeth Sigmund was born in Saginaw, Michigan on July 7, 1942. She passed into the Lord's presence on Thursday afternoon, October 10th from complications of ovarian cancer. Most of her early years were lived in the Tuscola County area of Michigan. She was the third youngest of four children. As a teenager she was active in church youth group activities. After graduating from Frankenmuth High School in 1960, she studied Christian Education at Nyack Missionary College (now Nyack College) in Nyack, New York. It was at Nyack that she met Chuck Sigmund whom she married in June of 1966. After Chuck graduated from Wheaton Graduate School of Theology, they lived in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Virginia before settling in Florida in 1979. Sue and Chuck celebrated 47 years of marriage on June 18th. For 29 years Sue served as a substitute teacher. She considered her substituting as a ministry to the teachers. At various times through the years she also taught Sunday School, conducted Children's Church and led Vacation Bible Schools. Sue is survived by her husband, Chuck of Indialantic; a son Jim Sigmund of Ashburn, Virginia; a son, David Sigmund of Long Beach, California; a sister, Donna Laugavitz of Bushnell, Florida; a brother, Alvin Houghtaling of West Branch, Michigan; a brother, Skip Baldwin of Mayville, Michigan, and grandsons Timothy and Danny Sigmund of Ashburn, Virginia. There will be a Celebration of Life Service in her memory at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Satellite Beach at 1 PM on Tuesday, October 15th.
