LaRaine Oaks
October 12th, 1949 - January 17th, 2014
LaRaine Oaks, court reporting office manager, passed away on January 17, 2014, at Holmes Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. LaRaine was born in Warren, OH, in 1949, and grew up and attended school in Brevard County, FL. She worked in the medical field as an EKG/ECG technician and in hospitals and doctors' offices for 10 years before moving into the court reporting support field in 1980, where she remained for the rest of her career. LaRaine was well-liked by the legal profession, office staff as well as attorneys and was known for her ability to provide any service needed in her field. She spent many a day after hours to support the reporters who worked overtime in the office, or to expedite someone's transcript, or to find a court reporter for someone at the last minute. LaRaine and her brother, Rick, ran a process serving business as well. She was a loving, caring pet parent and always had a dog or two (or three) around, along with her bird Champ. She was predeceased by her parents, Earl and Blanche Oaks. She is survived by her brother, Richard; her nephew, Kevin (Robin); her grand-niece, Brenna; and many friends and colleagues. A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Beach Funeral Home in Indian Harbour Beach from 4 to 6 p.m. with services to begin at 6:00 p.m. In loving memory of LaRaine, donations may be forwarded to the Florida Aid to Animals, 3585 Bayside Lakes Dr., Palm Bay, FL 32909.
