Margeret D Rogers
March 11th, 1927 - January 14th, 2015
Margaret D. Rogers, R.N. (née Dehaven) died peacefully at the Treasure Coast Hay-Madeira Hospice House in Stuart, Florida on January 14, 2015 at the age of 87. Margaret is survived by her husband, Lt. Col. David B. Rogers (USA) (Ret) of Stuart, Florida; three children; David B. Rogers III, Mary Catherine Cook and Stephen L. Rogers; a brother Charles Hartman, five grandchildren and a great granddaughter. Margaret was born on March 11, 1927 in Melrose, Florida. She graduated from the Georgia Baptist Hospital with her RN in 1948 and married 2nd Lt. David B. Rogers, Jr. in June, 1949. After moving to Melbourne she re-energized her nursing career by working with the newly formed Brevard Hospice organization. She was awarded the first ever National Heart of Hospice for nurses in 1993. When both hers and Dave's health demanded, they moved to Allegro, an independent living facility in Stuart, Florida to be near their daughter. She was a generous, witty and dedicated individual who loved hospice and was also an active and dedicated member of the United Church of Christ and volunteered for several years with the Stephen Ministry. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, January 24th, 11:00 A.M. at Riviera United Church of Christ in Palm Bay. Hospice. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Margaret's life. In lieu of flowers, Margaret's family has requested donations be made to the Treasure Coast Hospice at 1201 SE Indian St., Stuart, FL 34997.
