Susan "Sue" Gay Jungwirth

Susan “Sue” (Banning) Jungwirth was born September 15, 1947 in Salem, OR to Lyle and Inez Banning and died on January 9th at her home. She was affectionately known as “Grandma Sue” to many in the North Marion School Community. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gary who she missed immensely every day since his passing in 1996. She is survived by her three daughters: Carrie (Dan) Jungwirth-Soleim, Darci (Kelly) Meyer and Shelly (Bryan) Morris. She fiercely loved her grandkids Kendall, Keegan, Molly, Peyton, Josie, Thomas, and Jeff. She is also survived by her five siblings: Cindy Koenig, Mark (Trish) Banning, Craig (Becky) Banning, Tim (Donna) Banning, and Sandy (Bill) Journey. Sue was a proud graduate of Gervais Union High School in 1965. She was a beautician and worked in food service at North Marion for 24 years. She loved sports, particularly enjoying watching her granddaughters play volleyball, basketball, and softball. She was also a lifelong Portland Trail Blazer fan and tried to never miss a game on TV. Viewing will be at Canby Funeral Chapel on Friday, January 21st from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Graveside service will be at St. Luke’s Cemetery in Woodburn at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome. A celebration of life will be scheduled this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in her memory to: Canby Kiwanis P.O. Box 1004 Canby, OR 97013.
