Thomas Richard Wolters, 69, passed away on March 3, 2015, following a long illness. Tom was the son of the late Cleo and Philip J Wolters, and was raised in Fort Scott, Kansas. Tom enlisted in the US Air Force in 1965. After proudly serving his country for 4 years, he worked for King Radio Corporation in Olathe, Kansas. Tom began his career with Rockwell Collins Avionics Division in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1976. He was transferred to Rockwell Collins, in Melbourne, Florida, in 1977, where he worked as a mechanical engineer until his retirement in 2003. Tom and his family resided in Satellite Beach until moving to Melbourne in 2007. Tom was very much a family man, and very much involved with the activities of his children from an early age. He was an avid scuba diver, sailor, and bicyclist. He was a Master Diver, and a certified assistant diving instructor at a local dive shop. He served as an assistant woman's volleyball coach at Brevard Community College, and one year, he participated in the Senior Olympics as a player on one of the volleyball teams. He loved long distance cycling and enjoyed riding in events to raise money for charity. Tom is survived by a loving family, his wife of 48 years, Doneva; sons, Steven and Michel; daughter, Cecilia; and three grandsons, Matthew Wolters, Troy Wolters, and James Walker. Tom was born into a family of fourteen children, and is survived by his seven sisters, and six brothers; his beloved extended family, and close friends. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Brevard Alzheimer's Foundation, 4646 N Wickham Rd., Melbourne, Florida 32935.
