Janet McKinney Allison
May 22nd, 1929 - July 27th, 2015
Janet McKinney Allison, 86 of Melbourne, FL died peacefully at Viera Hospital on July 27th at 11:24 pm, from complications that arose after recent hip surgeries. She was born May 22, 1929 in Orange, New Jersey to Wilfred and Emily McKinney. With her sister Barbara she attended school In Rocky River, Ohio. Upon High School graduation she attended Tufts University majoring in Elementary Education. During her tenure in Medford, Mass., she met and upon graduation married World War II army veteran Mark H Allison. Janet taught first grade for one year, before settling in as her life's calling as a devoted wife, committed and loving mother. Together, the Allison's moved nine times while raising their four children. Mark traveled extensively and it was left to Janet much of the time, to run the household, which she did with passion and enthusiasm. The couple retired to Cherryville, NC until the untimely death of Mark in 1999. Later that year she relocated to Melbourne, Fl. where she led a chock-full schedule as she was active in many organizations, clubs, bridge groups, and of course the lives of her children and grandchildren. For six years Janet volunteered at Wuesthoff Hospital. She was the initial tenant at the Brenity of Melbourne, and greatly enjoyed her friends and the activities there. Janet is survived by her four children Mark Allison, Bruce Allison, Judith Griffin, Scott Allison and their spouses; Kelly Allison, Roberta Allison and Rebecca Allison. She had seven grandchildren; Ashley Allison, Chase Allison, Tyler Allison, Ryan Allison, Matthew Allison, Katherine Allison and Joseph Allison plus four great grandchildren Josie Allison, Emelia Allison, Alexandra Allison and Jacob Allison.
