Elmer Bromley Sweet
May 17th, 1929 - January 9th, 2016
E. Bromley Sweet was born in Bangor, Maine, on May 17, 1929 to Elmer Bromley Sweet and Ethel Sweet, and brought home during the depression to live with his sister, Phyllis. They grew up in Bangor and played on the Kenduskeag stream with many friends. During his high school years he moved with his family to Brunswick, Maine where he lettered in football, and met the cheerleader that became his wife of 56 years. Their nicknames were Brownie and Bunnikins. A match made in heaven and now they are there together. They married while dad was going to college at the University of Maine. After college they began an adventure in the military with dad as a commissioned officer. After the military he started his corporate career, during that time, they lived in 10 states; making time to have four children; Elmer Bromley III, Katherine Ann, Lawrence Scott and Cynthia Lynn. They then started raising their favorites, The Dogs, Gretchen, and her puppies, Hunter and Hanzel. After the first three German Shorthair pointers passed they adopted two more pointer puppies, Duke and Heidi, and then Buttons, who was his loyal companion until the end. Brom is survived by his four children, Lee (Jan), Kate (Dan), Larry and Cyndi (David); grandchildren, Daniel, Nichola, Courtney, Alexandria, Thomas, Charles, and Dexter; and nine great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Alice Mabel; eldest grandson, Christopher; and big sister, Phyllis. His dry sense of humor and wit will be missed.
