Bessie Lorraine Lane Bartlett. 93, passed away at home, Thursday April 14, 2016. She was surrounded by her five daughters and three of her five grandchildren. Born January 16, 1923 in East Boston, Massachusetts to Robert Wood and Jessie McClure Wood; she was one of eight children. She married, John Carl Lane, in 1941 and was a military wife until 1964, when John retired in Lawton, Oklahoma. A homemaker all her life, she helped raise five daughters. John passed away in 1974. Bessie decided to go to college and, at 63, received a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Cameron University of Lawton. In 1984, Bessie left Oklahoma for Jacksonville, Florida, where she resided with Joan. She reconnected with a high school friend and in 1987, married Harry M. Bartlett and moved to San Rafael, California, Harry passed away in 2006 and in 2010, Bessie retuned to Jacksonville to reside with Joan. In January of this year Bessie made her final move to Satellite Beach to reside with Elizabeth. She is survived by her five daughters; Joan Jacobs, Jacksonville FL, Kathleen Lane, Jacksonville, FL, Cynthia Neiswonger (Tom) Vancouver, WA, Lorraine Hogue (Pat), Sebring, FL and Elizabeth Lane of Satellite Beach. FL; five grandchildren: Michael, Andrea, Joanne, Monique and Teresa, and four great grandchildren, Ashley, Kristopher, Emma, and Annabella Lorraine.
