John David Rizek

As you may have heard, our dear friend and colleague, John Rizek, passed away early Monday morning. He leaves behind his wife, Alex, and three boys Zane (6), Guy (5) and Levi (7 months). A service to honor John will take place at 11am, Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Holy Name of Jesus in Indialantic, Florida. Many of us had the pleasure of knowing and working with John. He was a leader, a mentor, a comedian and a truly genuine good guy. During his time at Capital One, John received several awards, including Circle of Excellence for the launch of Deposit Escrow, Treasury Management partner award, among others. But these awards don't hold a candle to who he was as a person. John was the consummate leader and recognized as being a great manager and role model to others. He was loved by his team and known for being open minded and a good listener. He always encouraged them to dream big and was very influential in their careers. He was more than their manager, he was a trusted friend, who you didn't want to let down. More importantly and what we will remember the most about him was his role as a father and husband. He loved his family more than anything and he proudly shared pictures and stories of their lives together, which gave you a glimpse into what a wonderful person he was. John was a man of many talents - a good friend and colleague to many of us and truly will be missed. We've set up a college fund for John's three children.
