Kathryn Agnes Carroll Stevens was born to Irish immigrant parents Michael and Delia Bridget (Farrelly) Carroll, on October 18, 1927, in Forest Hills, New York. The youngest of seven children, Kathryn, lived a happy life growing up on Burns Street in Forest Hills, just down the street from the Forest Hills Tennis Stadium. As part of a close-knit family, she deeply loved her six brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings; her three brothers: Luke, John, and Owen, and her three sisters: Rita Brennan, Frances Dunne, and Theresa Walsh. Kathryn (Kaye) was also preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Stevens, in 1989. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Daniel) Barcia, of Reno, NV, and Sharon (Frank) Biscardi of Melbourne; her five grandchildren Steven Barcia, Danielle (Jason) Craperi, and Paul, Kyle, and Nicole Biscardi, and one great-grandson, Maxwell Craperi. After graduating from Forest Hills High School, Kaye began working as an administrative assistant in Manhattan for a number of different companies including the Associated Press. She and her husband Ronald were married on October 6, 1951 at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church in Forest Hills. Together, they moved as a young couple to Fishkill, New York, in Dutchess County, where Ron worked for IBM and they raised their children. As a family, they loved their dogs, enjoyed summer vacations each year on the Jersey Shore, and spent their winters skiing in the nearby Catskill Mountains. Throughout her life, spending time with her sisters and brothers and her many nieces and nephews was a priority for Kaye. Kaye was a dedicated mother and homemaker. She was active in her daughters' lives and took on many roles during that time including that of room mom, Brownie leader, PTO member, and chauffer to endless swimming lessons, CYO basketball games, and more. She was also active in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fishkill as a volunteer and as a Eucharistic Minister. As her children began to grow up, Kaye returned to the working world, first working as a secretary for the local school district and then moving on to her long-time position as assistant to the president of Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, New York. Kaye held that position at Mount Saint Mary College for more than fifteen years, right up to her retirement. After her husband Ron's death, Kaye, then found her greatest happiness spending time with her grandchildren. She never missed a birthday party, concert, athletic event, or graduation. She loved to spend quality time with her grandchildren travelling, baking, and playing games. She played a critical role in their lives and will be deeply missed by each one of them. Kaye moved to Viera, Florida eighteen years ago, and spent the last seven and a half years living at the Brennity of Melbourne. She was one of the first residents to move into the Brennity, then known as Watersong. At the Brennity, Kaye was active and happy. She enjoyed the friendship of many fellow residents and was extremely fond of many of the dedicated staff who work there. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Viera. Kaye lived a full and blessed life, was loved greatly, and will be missed deeply. We know her dear father, among all of her other deceased loved ones, greeted her with a hearty, "Cead Mile Failte," - "One Hundred Thousand Welcomes."
