Margaret "Peggy" Kiersted Van Arsdall
August 29th, 1928 - April 14th, 2017
Margaret "Peggy" Kiersted Van Arsdall passed away peacefully on April 14, 2017. Peggy was born on Aug. 29, 1928 in Kansas City, MO, to Janet (Cook) and Wynkoop Kiersted. She grew up in Scarsdale, N.Y. and attended both Scarsdale and Edgemont high schools and Smith College. It was during her Smith years that she met a handsome West Pointer, Robert A. Van Arsdall. They were married on June 9, 1948, the day after graduation. She spent twenty-eight years as a devoted Air Force wife, moving every few years to many places in the U.S. and the U.K. She was an extraordinary Mother to her four children who will miss her dearly. She had a keen sense of fashion and was a gifted seamstress - she could make a ball gown, sew window treatments - practically anything! She adored her dogs - no doubt Suki, Amie, Reggie, Scruffy, Millie, Greta, and Andre' were all there to greet her upon her arrival. Margaret was pre-deceased by her mother Janet and father Wynkoop, her sister Ann and her husband, Robert. She is survived by her twin brother John (Kit) Christopher (Janet) Kiersted, her sister in law JoAnn (Bob) Boyd, her four children, Robert Van Arsdall, Janet (Roger) Linville, Susie Crowe and Kathryn (Mitch) Varnes and ten grandchildren, Danielle Van Arsdall, Jennifer Van Arsdall, Lindsay Van Arsdall, Lisa Van Arsdall, Geoff (Kelly) Crowe, Dana Crowe, Libby (Michael) Matteson, Maggie Linville, Charlotte Varnes and Robert Varnes and eleven great grandchildren (and one on the way). In lieu of flowers - please consider a donation to Vitas Hospice or Brevard County Sherriff's Office Animal Services. Her children are very grateful to the amazing staff at Ocean Breeze Gardens Assisted Living in Satellite Beach who cared for her with kindness and love over the past four plus years. And also to the VITAS hospital staff who gave our mother dignity and amazing care over the last year. We love you Mom to "scraps and bits!" A Celebration of Life service will be held a a later date.
