Ronald Jean Logan passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, at home in Indian Harbour Beach, FL on June 14th, 2017. Ron was born on August 17th, 1962 in Henderson, KY to Bennie Jean Logan and Leota Faye (Reed) Logan. He was 54 years old. Ron graduated in the top 10 of his class in 1980 from Christian County High School in Hopkinsville, KY. He was a 4 year letterman with the award-winning marching band, having played the trombone. After high school Ron attended The Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA where he received a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering, Co-Operative Plan degree (with Gulfstream) in 1985. Ron enjoyed cheering for the Rambling Wreck and was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. Ron met the love of his life, Vicki Weigandt, in the summer of 1981 while she studied at Georgia Baptist Medical Center in Atlanta. Ron began his career as an Aero-Space Engineer at McDonnell-Douglas in Long Beach, CA working on the C-17 program. From there he transferred to the Huntington Beach facility to work on the International Space Station. Ron's career brought him to Melbourne, FL in 1997 to work on the Joint Stars Program at Northrop-Grumman. He worked on multiple programs throughout his career here on the Spacecoast. Ron had just celebrated his 20th Anniversary with Northrop-Grumman. Ron married Vicki in 1985 in Altamonte Springs, FL. They were happily married for 31 years. Ron was a devoted family man. He coached many t-ball, baseball, softball, soccer and basketball teams throughout the years in Indian Harbour Beach. Ron loved the laid back life at the condo in Cocoa Beach and cruising on Royal Caribbean. He looked forward to competing in the trivia sessions on-board with his children. Ron had a passion for trains and technology. Ron was also an avid movie lover, I think he probably owns almost every movie since the 90's. Faithfully he would watch music videos every Sunday morning while having a peanut butter sandwich for breakfast. Ron was a very warm, caring, private person. He wasn't a man of many words. Ron became quite proficient cooking a country low-boil for family when they came to visit. Ron looked forward to the yearly vacation at Lake Barkley, KY with family. Ron was preceded in death by his mother Leota Logan. Ron is survived by his wife Vicki. His two sons Jacob (Jake) Jean Logan and Matthew (Matt) John Logan; daughter Christi Marie Logan, all from Indian Harbour Beach; father Bennie (Susan) Logan of Venice, FL; two sisters, Tamara Logan (Chris Dunn) of Los Alto, CA and Cynthia (Lance) Gordon of Terre Haute, IN; one granddaughter Aubree and his loving nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives. Funeral Service will be held on June 19th, 2017 with a gathering from 5-6 pm and the celebration of life from 6-6:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations to be made to the American Heart Association or your favorite charity in his memory.
