Lorraine Wiegand
June 16th, 1930 - June 14th, 2018
Lorraine Wiegand of Melbourne Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, June 14, 2018 at the age of 88. Our gentle and loving mother, grandmother and wife will be missed for her kind spirit, generosity and love for her family, but our memories of her will be with us forever. Lorraine was born in Fall River, Massachusetts on June 16, 1930 to the late John Mello and Sarah (Botelho) Mello. After marrying her husband, Roger, in Fall River, MA on June 9, 1956, the couple lived in Boston for a few years and later moved to Rochester, NY, where they spent many years and raised their family. In retirement, Roger and Lorraine, spent their winters in Melbourne Beach and summers in Rochester and on Conesus Lake, and later moved to Melbourne Beach. Lorraine gave so much to her family, friends and community. A Sunday school teacher, Cub Scout den mother, school library volunteer, garden club member, PTA member, all in service to others with no expectation in return, except to humbly help others, create lasting memories with her family and contribute to the community. Lorraine is survived by her husband of 62 years, Roger; her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Ruth Wiegand with their two children, Emily and Joseph, of Boca Raton, Florida; her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Cindy Wiegand with their three children, Colin, Kennedy and Justin, of Dallas, Texas, and; her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Frank Olearczyk with their three children, Michelle, Frankie and Jackie of Boca Raton, Florida. Lorraine was preceded in death by her brother James Mello and sister Mary Carreiro, both of Fall River, MA. The family will honor her memory at a mass on Friday, June 22, at 1:00 p.m. at the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church located at 3050 N. Highway A1A, Indialantic, FL 32903. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
