Krista Marianne Kirchner, 49, of Indian Harbour Beach passed away on April 2, 2019. Krista was born in St. Louis to June and Dean Hewitt. She was raised in Alexandria, VA, where she was a competitive figure skater in her youth, and a cheerleader in high school. In 1993 she graduated with honors from Strayer College with a degree in business administration. Soon after graduation, she moved to the Space Coast, where she worked as an administrator at several companies including Harris, Northrop Grumman, Boeing, and at Patrick Air Force Base. Following the 2007 birth of her daughter, Kyra, she was a loving, caring stay-at-home mom. In addition to her daughter, Krista is survived by her loving husband, Edward. She was completely devoted to her family, and almost all of her activities were centered around caring for them. She was an avid reader, and especially loved novels set in the Victorian Age. She also loved playing Scrabble - and was great at it. In their 23-year relationship, her husband counts his Scrabble victories on one hand. In order to seek out more equal competition, Krista began playing on-line, and made cherished long-distance friendships with Tina Lasky and Jon Mol. Krista is also survived by her devoted best friend Sean Mathis (Kyra's godfather), and other family members including her sisters Laurie Dzurko and Jennifer Hassett and their families, and her aunt Severine Zito. With her passing, she is reunited with her parents. Memorial Contributions may be made to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.
