Alice Elizabeth Safford Robertson
September 19th, 1933 - April 2nd, 2019
Alice Elizabeth Safford Robertson peacefully passed into her eternal home on April 2, 2019 surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in New Iberia, Louisiana to Hilda Levert and James Clarence Safford on September 19, 1933. She lived her happy childhood in Lafayette Louisiana with her brother James Jr., and three sisters ,Mary Lou Safford Begnaud, Sr Margaret Safford, O.Carm., and Yvonne Safford Ebel. While studying at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, she was named the Camellia Queen and attended the Mardi Gras ball in Washington, D.C. After graduation she and her family moved to Baton Rouge ,Louisiana where she spent her adult life teaching gifted kindergarten while earning her masters degree from LSU. She had an incredible zest for life which included tennis, gardening, traveling the world, and LSU football! She welcomed many people to her home and never stopped giving to our family or friends and unexpected visitors. She is survived by her sisters Yvonne Ebel, Mary Lou Begnaud and her children, Stuart Robertson (Rachel Cline), Marla Robertson Houck (Allen), Elizabeth Shawn Robertson and "adopted"daughter Megan McAnally. Her grand children who she loved dearly are Chris , Sean (Tricia), Alan (Kaisha), Megan,Brian,Brooke, Caitlin, Connor,Branden, Callie, and Marlee. She was so proud of her great grandchildren Adian, Kaitlin, Josh,Jack, and baby Emmett. Her lifelong friend Gail Engoilo and her tennis buddies remember her fun-loving spirit. She was crazy Aunt Alice to numerous nieces and nephews who always looked forward to her visits and shenanigans. Her unforgettable laugh and exuberant spirit touched many lives and she will be missed! A gathering will be held on April 10, 2019 at 11:00 am for local family and friends at Beach Funeral Home, Indian Harbour Beach ,Fl. A memorial service is planned for June in Lafayette, Louisiana where she will placed by her parents. In Lieu of flowers, Donations to the Parkinson's foundation would be appreciated.
