Roger H. Brown, 84, passed away Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011. He was born in New York City, on March 29, 1926 to Marion and Reginald Brown. Roger was preceded in death by his sister Marilyn Flaherty, his son Steven R. Brown and daughter-in-law Stephanie Brown. He is survived by his wife Charlotte of 57 years, his daughters Carol Ann Wehle and Joyce Marie (Peter) Grover,his sisters Cynthia (Robert) Robertson and Patricia Paull, 8 grandchildren; Christine (Jason), Brian (Sara) and Samantha Senne; Nick, Jeff and Cate Grover; Sarah and Sam Brown and 1 great-grand child, Jackson Herbert. Roger served in World War II - Army Air Forces and the Korean War - Army as a 2nd Lieutenant, receiving the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars and the United Nations Service Medal. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Univ. of Maine, 1951. Roger was a Professional Engineer specializing in civil and structural engineering. He worked for the Boston Naval Shipyard designing torpedo booms and worked for Pratt and Whitney doing stress analysis on the first experimental turbo fan jet engine. He worked for ABCO responsible for dynamic analysis of the reentry heat shield systems for the Gemini, Apollo, and Space Shuttle programs. He also, worked for Stone and Webster, in charge of engineering support on the construction of multiple nuclear power plants. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011 from 1:00PM to 3:00PM at Beach Funeral Home in Indian Harbor Beach, FL and the family will receive friends at home immediately following. A burial will be at a future date at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Daily Bread of Melbourne at 815 East Fee Ave, Melbourne, FL 32901.
