August A. Alfaro, 96, of Indialantic passed away, Thursday, June 16, 2011. He was born in New Orleans, LA to Augustine and Lucy Alfaro. He came to Brevard County from New Orleans, LA in 1989. August served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. He carried on the family tradition of making Vargus wax figures, some are displayed in museums in New Orleans. August was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. He is survived by his nephews, Bruce Butler of Melbourne, FL, and John Butler of Portland, OR; niece, Lucy Butler of Indialantic, FL. August was preceded in death by his wife May Alfaro and sister, Blanca Butler.
