Emery Benjamin Jones
November 25th, 1939 - March 21st, 2023
Emery Benjamin Jones died on March 21, 2023 in Indian Harbour Beach, Florida. He was born in Burlington Vermont on November 25, 1939 to Benjamin and Helen Jones. They moved to Orlando in 1942 where Emery grew up, graduating from Boone High School. He attended college in Atlanta, graduating from Georgia Tech in 1962. While at Tech he met Mary Josephine Doyle, fell in love and married her soon after graduation. After moving several times, as Emery pursued a career in sales management, they settled in Jacksonville where they raised their family. They had three daughters and a blessed marriage for 32 years, when God called Mary home. Emery was involved in a wide variety of activities over the years. He served as president of his company’s trade association, board member of the Lakeland Kiwanis Club and Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce. He was also Lay Director of the Cursillo Movement of northeast Florida and Standard Bearer Chairman for the Tournament Players Championship golf tournament. And for a couple of minutes he piloted the Goodyear blimp. In 1990 Emery left the stress of the corporate world, moved to Lakeland, Florida and bought a printing company, which he operated for 10 years, selling the company and retiring in 1999. It was in Lakeland, following Mary’s death, that God brought Margaret Gray into his life, a match truly made in heaven. She also retired in 1999 and they moved to Indian Harbour Beach, close to her son and his family. They were blessed to be able to travel worldwide during retirement, touring over 25 countries. Emery’s retirement was also spent serving his church as a home group Bible study leader, a Stephen Minister and as the church Financial Secretary for many years. He is survived by his gift from God, Margaret, a brother, William Edward Jones, three daughters, Elizabeth Ann Jones, Barbara Ann Bouffard (Matthew) and Linda Ann Gay (Eric); two stepsons, Bret Allen Gray (Claudette) and Christopher Dewayne Gray (Cynammon) and five granddaughters. A memorial Service celebrating Emery’s life will be held at Satellite Beach United Methodist Church 450 Lee Ave Satellite Beach at 3:00pm, Sunday March 26, 2023/ In lieu of flowers, please donate to (Fighting Back Against Parkinson’s) Rock Steady Boxing at Advance Fitness 2176 Sarno Rd #102 Melbourne, Fl. 32935 or Parkinson’s Foundation.
