Thomas Cuccaro, 92, of Viera, formally of Youngstown, Ohio passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2023. He was born on June 1, 1931 in Youngstown, Ohio; the son of the late Frank and Mary (LaRocco) Cuccaro. Thomas was a fighter, in every sense of the word. He began boxing as a young man, and in his later years mentored young kids to choose boxing over crime and drugs, creating All Florida Boxing Club. Thomas had a passion for life and those around him. He was a consummate helper always lending a hand. Thomas was born during the Great Depression. He grew up during world wars and hard times in the tough streets of Youngstown, Ohio, a steel mill town that was gritty and challenging. He was determined for a better life for his family. One of seven brothers and sisters of hard-working faith guided Italian immigrants. Tom worked in multiple labor jobs to always help provide for his family, including being a loyal Deputy Sheriff in Ohio. He never finished high school but was smart beyond measure. He was always positive with humor and guidance and committed to family. He was a self-made hardworking man and philanthropist for many local charitable organizations like the Brevard Alzheimer’s Association and always wanted to lend a helping hand or solve a problem or contribute. He was a committed member of the Knights of Columbus, The Christopher Columbus Italian Club, and St John’s Catholic Church. In being like his Patron Saint, St Thomas, he had similar approaches to life,” trust but verify”. If you were blessed to know Thomas, he was a man that you had on your side forever and believed in you and encouraged you. Thomas was survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathleen (Naples) Cuccaro of Viera; his son, Dominic Cuccaro (Nancy) of Virginia; his daughter, Mary Cuccaro (Pasquale) of Suntree; his grandchildren, Juliana Cuccaro, Thomas Cuccaro, Carlo Cuccaro, Nicholas Cuccaro, Maximillian Cuccaro; his sister, Rose Sefner of Kansas; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his siblings, Pascal, Josephine, George, Francis Sertich, James. Family and friends are welcome to St. John’s the Evangelist Catholic Church on Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 10:30 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Father, John Britto Antony and Deacon Rick Broderick, as Celebrates. Interment will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens, Rockledge, FL. “My Lord and My God,” through the Profession of Faith in the Divinity of Jesus Christ through Saint Thomas The Apostle, we pray for the peaceful eternal rest of Thomas Cuccaro.
