John Kelsey Harding, age 64, lost his battle with bladder cancer on April 26, 2014, in Florida. He was born on May 22, 1949, in Bar Harbor, Maine, and lived there until approximately 2000, when he moved to Florida. Thereafter, John was a snowbird, spending winters in Florida and summers in Maine. John was a graduate of Husson College and served 2 years in the United States Army, with an Honorable Discharge in October 1974. Came to The Lynam Agency in 1975. He became the owner in 1987 and operated the insurance agency until 1996. The Lynam Agency is now in it's 130th year of operation. Member of the Rotary Club of Bar Harbor (MDI) Maine #6290 for over 20 years, serving as President in 1988. During the years he lived in Bar Harbor, he was also a member of the MDI YMCA Board of Directors, American Legion Post 0025, and Kebo Golf Club. Volunteer for the Bar Harbor Fire Department between 1980 and 2000, serving as a Lieutenant of Volunteers. In addition to serving as a fire fighter, he was also an ambulance and fire truck driver. Volunteer at the Bar Harbor Historical Society, talking to tourists about how special Bar Harbor was to him. Volunteer at the Seal Cove Auto Museum. John worked a number of years as a "Tuesday Tinkerer, " working on a 1905 REO, the world's only surviving 1915 F.R.P., a 1912 Crane Model 3, a spectacular 1913 Peugeot Type 150, and a 1911 American Victoria Underslung, this year's entry/winner at the Amelia Island Concourse d'Elegance. Predeceased by his father, David Ray Harding, his mother, Doris Kathleen Kelsey Harding, and his twin brother, Steve Harding, all former Bar Harbor residents. Surviving family members include: wife, Janet Harding, Seminole, Florida; son, Jeffrey Harding (and fiancé, Kristi Czyzyk), Seminole, Florida; daughter, Kelly Latuscha (and husband, Joe), New Gloucester, Maine; brother, William Harding (and wife, Joan) The Villages, Florida; nieces Julia Harding and Jesslyn Harding, nephew, Scott Harding; cousin, David Harding; and childhood friend, Tyler Proctor, Bar Harbor, Maine, who was like a brother to John.
