Loyless Funeral Homes - Land O' Lakes
Granville Harry Kinsman
February 12th, 1922 - May 24th, 2017
KINSMAN, Granville H., 95, WW II veteran of Land O’ Lakes, passed away May 24, 2017. He was born in Detroit, Michigan and moved to the Land O’ Lakes area in the 1940’s. Granville was a graduate of Hillsborough High School, where he met his future wife, Elizabeth. In 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served with distinction as a P-51 fighter pilot, completing 50 missions over Europe. He received numerous decorations for meritorious service, and was recently highlighted with a military honor guard at a Tampa Bay Lightning game in recognition of his service to our country. Granville was a citrus grower and business owner, and actively served the local community for many years. He was a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite for 59 years. Granville loved the place he called home, the outdoors, his hunting club, riding motorcycles and spending summers at his home in North Carolina. He was an honorable man; his word was as good as a written contract. He loved and protected his family above all else, and will be remembered as a hero to his kids. Every day he would say “I’ve had a good life.” He was preceded in death by the love of his life for 67 years, Elizabeth. Granville is survived by three daughters, Sandra Asmuth, Eileen Holland and Linda Sumner; two sons, Scott and wife Kathy, and Granville Jr. and spouse Gonzalo Garcia-Villalta; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Patricia Shafer and Charlotte Miller; extended family and friends. A celebration of life will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Loyless Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Memorial donations in memory of Granville may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis TN 38148; or 800-822-6344.
